ScanAfter upsetting events in Ferguson, Missouri in August 2014 and the fact that black Americans’ purchasing power has never been respected, a spark was ignited in the mind of Simone Williams. One afternoon while the world was raging and rioting, Williams watched a video that broke down 5 steps to Blacks balancing the scales of power in America.  The first step was to control the black dollar.

According to a September 15, Black Enterprise article, black Americans are expected to have buying power of $1.1 trillion by 2015. Sadly most of that money won’t be circulating within the community but rather with big name retailers that constantly undervalue the black dollar. Initially starting with weekly Facebook posts highlighting a different business every week, Dream.Create.Market. was created to slightly tip the scales of commerce back to the middle.

With a plethora of companies open for business covering a wide range of needs, the unemployment rate among Blacks in America  was 11.4% as of August 2014. Williams’ believes that number could be drastically reduced “if we first started recycling money within the community by supporting our own businesses, which will increase revenue for the companies and allow them to higher more workers.  It’s incorporating the ‘village’ mentality.”
